Fat Man and Little Boy
(I. category: up to 13 ys; II. category: 14-17 ys)
On 6th August 1945 an atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Hiroshima. On 9th August 1945 an atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki. In two seconds tens of thousands people died. The first bomb had a code name Little Boy, the second one Fat Man. Little boys and fat men usually beam with joy of life. Paint or draw a joyful picture with the figures of a little boy and a fat man to return the original meaning to the words. All the pictures will be displayed in the end of the competition and the best ones will become illustrations of the book with the letters from the Young diplomat competition.
In 1947 Jitka Samkova, an eight-year-old girl from Czechoslovakia, painted a thanksgiving picture. It became an inspiration for selling UNICEF postcards throughout the world.
